New to Couponing Part #3

Last week we touched on the coupon policies for Walgreens and Harris Teeter. It was great to have last week conveniently line up with triple coupons!

This week we are going to go over places you can get more coupons and Kroger.

Next week will be our final week, so if there are any questions be sure to post them below so that I can be sure all questions are addressed in my final writeup.

1) WHERE TO FIND MORE COUPONS. First, the Sunday paper. If you are anything like me you will forget to get the paper and that will be the week with the coupons you want. Huge bummer. I recommend saving yourself the time and trouble and go ahead and subscribe to the paper. If you cannot yet afford to subscribe, then go get your first few papers at the Dollar Tree (it's only $1 there vs $2 other places). It ends up costing as much as it does to have it delivered.

Clipping services. There are TONS of these online. Basically you are paying for the service, not the coupon.

eBay. You can bid on coupons here, which can result in some really great deals!

Your Neighbors. Most people will only clip 4 or 5 coupons out of an insert and get rid of it. Ask your neighbors to give you their unused coupons.

Coffee shops. Most have a place to put already read papers into and lots of these people are only interested in the news, not the coupons...so if you are already there, check.

Blinkies. These are the machines that spit out coupons you find in the aisles at grocery stores. Take 2 when you see these and move on. If it is something you know you will use then get 2 more next time you go

2) KROGER. The most important thing to know about Kroger is that they will not usually accept more then 2 or 3 printables for the same item and that they will not accept coupons that are printed for more then $2. They double coupons up to and including .50 everyday. THEY HAVE NO LIMIT TO HOW MANY COUPONS YOU CAN USE PER TRANSACTION.

Their "offical" policy can be found here. Unfortunately, this is very iffy.  Each cashier has the right to be picky about it. So, find a good store that is good about taking your coupons and keep going to it. Personally, I don't even feel like the offical policy is worth reading. Generally it says that the cashier will not take the coupons if they believe they are not legimate coupons.

This week, we will do another begginers scenario at CVS for those of you that did not get the chance.  This week we will also go over the policies of Harris Teeter & Walgreens. Also, we are going to go over some coupon abbreviations, since I and many other bloggers use couponing shorthand.

CVS Weekly ad & coupon matchups 5/15-5/21

Ok guys, this isn't exactly the biggest ad CVS has had, but there are still a few pretty good deals.

As I mentioned in a prior post: New to couponing Part 1, this is the drugstore I really want you to learn for this week. Not only is CVS one of my FAVORITE drugstores to shop, but it is stocked full with freebies. Most people avoid drugstore shopping because generally the prices are high. If you pair a coupon with a sale at a drugstore, you can come out with many freebies and sometimes even a PROFIT. At CVS when I say profit I mean in the form of Extra care bucks. Extra care bucks (ECB) are coupons good for $$ off your next purchase. If you line you trip up in multiple transactions you can get your costs down. You will pay your initial bit out of pocket (OOP) and from that point forward you will use you ECB to buy what? Things that give you additional ECB, of course!! See the end for a scenario

$2 ECB when you buy (2) Scott mega choose a size paper towel rolls 6 ct @ $5 (limit 1)
-Use $1/1 from SS 4/3

Harris Teeter Confirms TRIPLE COUPONS!

Harris Teeter has confirmed TRIPLES for the first time in 14 months, in all areas!

What does triples entail? Any coupon .99 or less, tripled! I'm really excited and will have a list of great freebies and cheap stuff available on Tuesday evening. Until then, look through your coupons and online in a database for coupons .99 and below and print what you can for items you believe you will want/would be cheap or free.

Harris Teeter has a online shopping program, so you should be able to easily check for prices of items at their store without even leaving your computer.

Again, Print printables now, don't wait. They will likely become unavailable very quickly once the matchups start coming out for this sale.

Farm Fresh Weekly Ad & Coupon Matchups 5/11-5/17

Here is this weeks Farm Fresh ad. It's a pretty small one compared to usual, but still a few good deals! I'm really excited for .25 gold fish!

For those of you who are new and started out with New to couponing Part 1 here is the general idea of the coupon policy at Farm Fresh:
-20 coupons per transaction, per day
-Doubled up to and including $1 on Wednesdays
-Doubled up to and including .99 ALL WEEK
-Maximum of 2 like coupons per transaction (Example from below, I will only be able to get 4 bags of Goldfish with my coupons, I will have to pay full price for any more I desire to get)
-Coupons that state Do Not Double will not be doubled (this really depends on your store and cashier, coupons barcoded with a 5 are coded to double)
-.05 discount for each reusable shopping bag you use

During these mega events (buy 10 save $5 dollars) I like to put my items in lots of 10 in the reusable shopping bags so I don't have to worry about counting them multiple times. Saves LOTS of time in the store.

There is another instant spotlight savings this week where you save $5 when you purchase any 10 items. The prices listed are BEFORE savings and the ones in parenthisis are after. I will mark these (SPOTLIGHT).

There is also a free milk promo going on, buy any participating 4 general mills items and get a free gallon of milk on you next shopping trip. These items are marked (MILK). I have heard there are difficulties with these printing at the checkout, so make sure you keep an eye on it so you can mention it right away if yours does not!

Wednesday Deals:

Propel Water $1 (SPOTLIGHT)
-Use $1/2 Propel Zero
Final: Free (-.50)

New couponers start here, PART 1

Ok, I know I haven't posted CVS yet. My computer was down due to a nasty virus (which both of my computers got!) and I am just getting back up and on the internet.

I am doing a 4 Part series to New couponers start here all the month. Each week I will start you with a new scenario, store policies etc. Please comment with any questions

This week we are going to start mostly with what you already know and put a little bit of couponing backround into the mix, follow this step by step guide to get started:

STEP 1:
Make a list of commonly used items in your household and the price you generally pay for that item. The reason this is important is because you cannot know if you have a good deal if you just throw the items in the cart as you need them. Example: Healthy Harvest Pasta $1.49. This list will tell me that when I look at Krogers ad for this week that buying 10 at .49 each is a great deal and that I should buy as much pasta as I would expect to consume in about 6 weeks (this is usually how long it takes for another sale on the same item rolls around). There are coupons available for this item, however, if you don't have one it would be silly to pass up savings of an entire dollar for nearly 6 weeks!

While I'm at Farm Fresh....I think I'll get a .19 loaf of bread

When I went into farm fresh last I checked the Price of the Roman Meal bread and it was at 2.19. Today I have found that there is $1/1 coupon and I'm going to use it to get some cheap bread! Don't forget to print it twice, it won't expire until June 3 if you print it today from here!

Farm Fresh weekly ad & coupon matchups 5/4-5/10

Here is this weeks Farm Fresh Matchups. I'm pretty excited to go this week, which I didn't last week because I did so great at Harris Teeter! There are several deals I'm very happy to come along. There is a buy any 4 of certain dessert items and get $4 towards your next shopping trip. I will mark this promo with (YUM)
